2011 looks set to be an excellent year for sales professionals. In a recent survey conducted by thought-leaders salesgravy.com, 75% of Sales Leaders stated that this year they felt their sales headcount would increase, with only 2% saying it would decrease. This is a hugely positive message for sales professionals and the economy as a whole.
However, this positive news will result in resourcing challenges for Sales Leaders. The same survey highlighted widespread concern over the quality of professionals available: a massive 57% responded that they had ‘significant concern’ over the availability of sales talent to meet their hiring needs. Furthermore, 33% believed that there will be increase in sales staff turnover as the economy recovers.
The report makes good reading for sales professionals who will be looking forward to increased job opportunities and a possible improvement of current benefit packages. As for Sales Leaders, it highlights the importance, now more than ever, of recruiting and retaining top sales talent. Focussing on offering good benefit packages and working conditions will help make sure the best sales professionals stick around to exploit the improving market and bring the business (and economy) back to growth.
